hey everyone,
im a type one diabetic and was diagnosed just over a year ago. i hate to say it and i hate to complain but im so miserable
at first i took the diagnosis in my stride, got control of my sugar levels and i was ok, but then it dawned on me that i would be injecting insulin for the rest of my life....
i know it is ridiculous but i still cant believe it, i hate that im diabetic and im so ashamed of it. i would never tell someone i was diabetic, in my head its like this awful weakness that i cant control. i feel so compleatly alone. when i was first diagnosed, i handeled it so well that my close friends and family (2 of whom are type 2) dont ever mention it and just asume that im managing it. but im really really not. i take just enough insulin so as i dont go into a coma, i NEVER check my levels because i know there terrible, i eat whatever i want, i smoke. im a student and i party all the time..... i know thats its bad and i know that its wrong, but i dont care! i want to be a normal 21 year old, all i want is to be normal and forget the last year ever happened.
and i know your prob all thinking im just a stupid woman with no regard for her health, and you'd prob be right, but thats why im here, i need you to tell me that im not alone, that somebody else out there hates this as much as i do. that somebody else is fuc*ing angry at their bodies as much as i am. or at least were at first.
i think that if i feel less alone i wont be as wreckless..... is that insane? am i going insane? i need help....
im so sorry but at this stage i dont know where else to turn.... maybe someone who has the same disease as me would understand what im feeling?
sarah x

which Dentists in your area are accepting patients and what kind of
patients they are accepting..... (bet you didn't know you were in a

some basic info about stroke, diabetes, what-have-you too.

Tai Chi is classified as moderate exercise.

“This interesting new research further confirms that moderate exercise is vital in effectively managing Type 2 diabetes,” said Cathy Moulton, Care Advisor at Diabetes UK.

"Good diabetes control reduces people’s risk of developing serious complications such as heart disease, stroke and blindness.

How much moderate activity to do daily
“Diabetes UK recommends that people with diabetes do a minimum of 30 minutes of moderate physical activity on at least five days of the week.

What counts as moderate physical activity?
"Any activity that leaves you feeling warm and slightly breathless but still able to hold a conversation counts as moderate exercise - including vigorously cleaning the house, briskly walking the dog and, of course, Tai Chi.

“In addition to the importance of moderate physical activity, the relaxation element of Tai Chi may help to reduce stress levels, preventing the release of adrenalin which can lead to insulin resistance and high blood glucose levels.”

Had to follow up the kind of music you like with this one.

My favorite book, well there are a couple I return to on a regular (annually) basis. I am currently re reading The Lord of The Rings. I thought the films were rubbish, charecters in the wrong places, important events left out. The book is brilliant, I read for the first time in 1976 when the chap that is now my husband lent it to me. Apart from the book being a ripping good yarn, I enjoy the way Tolkein explored language.

I also come back to The Earthsea Trilogy by Ursula Le Guinne about every 18 months or so, and I have just bought The Narnia Chronicals as one volume. My good read for last year was The Black Magicians Triolgy by Trudi Canavan.

In case you hadn't noticed I am a fan of fantasy novels, and also like Terry Prachett.:surfing::boogie::updown::sleepout::fingersear:

This has been at the back of my mind for yonks.

I'm a type two. So my disposables are the sharps from my pen, and the 'blood strips'.

As I understand it, type one's get a yellow bin with a big warning sign on the front
which is collected?

I'm not happy with my sharps and strips going to landfill. I'm really unhappy putting them
in general waste. Sure I could save them and wrap them in margarine tubs and stuff, which I
do, but I find the idea a bit disgusting. (still once-a-week rubbish collections here in snowy
sheffy) I do three tests a day, 24/7 = 8736 sharps a year.....

Doe's anyone have any suggestions?
