Theres a company called Oramed thats based in Israel. Has anyone else heard of it? It says on their website, oramed.com, that they are up to phase 2a of testing. If anyone finds out more info let me know. I know you have to take these kind of things with a grain of salt after the whole fiasco with Exubera but I like to look at the glass half full

I retired earlier this year and am not as active now. Doing some checking on the internet for the least invasive monitor, I ran across some "natural" remedies for diabetes and wonder if anyone has any experience or knowledge about them. One is a book of special recipes by a doctor Q, and another is herbal capsules. These purport to replace traditional medications for many. Anyone?

Interesting article. I suspect it's the same about type 1's too. (UK)

Bottom line of the article is that the chap is a type 2, and his Body Mass Index (BMI) is considered too high, but, technically, he's not
overweight. He's concerned because when people hear he's a type 2, they automatically assume he's an over-eater and obese, and
the prejudice he faces.

My experience is that my GP and diabetic nurse no longer use BMI. But they do measure my tum, weight and hight, and I don't
know how that works. I can see most of my feet :)

I tend to err on the side of keeping my carbohydrates low. Simply because I found it kept my mmol down.

Last week, after many years of avoiding them, one lunchtime I treated myself to a good old fashioned chip butty. Rubbish
chips, but that's another story... I enjoyed it, but, within half an hour, I couldn't keep my eyes open, and zonked out for
three hours during the day - I just couldn't keep awake. My lass was so worried she checked my mmol - - 6.1. Not bad.

Today, I had another one, out of pig-headedness, and boing! it happened again. When I checked my sugars they were 4.7.
Again, not bad. But being zonked is rather unwelcome.

Looks like there's some connection between the 'knockout' and the butties - Has anyone else come across this, is it normal,
and okidoke, it seems I could avoid the problem by avoiding all that carbohydrate, but if anyone has a solution.....?

I take Metformin 500 mg x3, (8am, 3pm, 10pm)

Cheers!

Suppose it's a fact of life, is diet control

Careful management, yup. I came across this in the Times newspaper (UK). On line version here :-

http://women.timesonline.co.uk/tol/life_and_style/women/diet_and_fitness/article4523487.ece

Which kinda goes against the grain, so to speak. But it intrigues me. Any opinions?

(p.s. I'm a type 2 - and as an afterthought, I use the RSS link option for this forum - makes it easy to keep track of the latest posts
I'd be happy to do a very short tutorial if anyone's interested )
