I love my pets so much, actually, they're more then pets I honestly don't know what I would do without them. My daughter has two years of college ahead of her and then I suppose she will be spreading her wings. My mom and dad are at home 24 hours a day so my pets are always inside. My mom has heart problems and spends a lot of time on the bed and my Bully (Gimli) is always at her side, she cannot move without him, but when I'm at home then he's like a growth, he goes wherever I go, he's so beautiful and the cats do what they do. My daughter has a book on cats and the very first page has the following "Dogs have owners, Cats have staff" and it's so true, we serve them constantly and as for Franklin (the bunny), he's supposed to be a dwarf bunny but he's a little on the round side. My daughter bought a harness for him and takes him for walks around the yard, he loves it. We are so blessed to have the pets we have, they have such wonderful natures, the whole lot of them.
Pets are our family too. If no one ever had a pet it would be a sadder badder world. When we have someone home all day we will get another pet.
In the UK some people take their pets into care homes and nursing homes so that the residence get contact with our furry friends.
I have heard of a number of cases where the pets have saved their owners lives in someway. SInce cats and dogs have a far better sense of smell than we do, it seems reasonable they will smell the changes in our body chemistry and therfore warn us when things like our blood sugar is too low. One friends dog was always able to warn when she was going to have an eplipetic seizure. WHile she couldn't preven the seizure, she usually was able to get to a place of safety and lay on the floor till it passed!
Kimbo, the book is right, dogs have owners and cats have staff!
Cats are incredible, our gray Tabby, Bobby, always sleeps in bed with my mom and the night she had her first heart attack, my dad came to my room to tell me he was taking her to hospital because she couldn't breathe, it was 23:45 and when my dad reversed out the driveway, Bobby came and crawled into my bed with me, which is something he has NEVER ever done before. I still think it was his way of comforting me, he definitely knew that something wasn't right with my mom and felt the need to let me know that everything was going to be alright. He really is an amazing cat, he is the most loving cat I have ever known, as soon as you pick him up he starts purring, we can do anything we like with him, I often hold him around my neck like a scarf and he just doesn't mind one bit. As for our white cat Casper, he's on his own little mission, he only likes being cuddled when he feels like it, everthing is done in his time.
I've heard of people being healed by animals before, they really are incredibly special.
When my big son was little, our cat would sleep on his bedd when ever my son was ill. I could do whatever I liked with him, but no one else could get near him if he was in one of his moods. Cats are amazing creatures. Dogs are OK, and I wouldn't harm one, I'd still rather have a cat.
