How many people get their eyes tested each year? Ido, I work with computers and do a lot of close work, so it is essential I keep my eyes working!

I go to a private optician as I get better service, but as they accept NHS patients I still get my free eye test. I am luckier than most as my firm also pays for eye tests for regular computer users too. The only thing my optician doesn't do is the photographs of the back of the eye, but otherwise the test is pretty complete.:shades::rasta:tic

"The only thing my optician doesn't do is the photographs of the back of the eye"

But you do have it done somewhere along the line don't you ducks?

It's the important one. It's the changes from year to year they keep track of to prevent diabetic associated blindness.

Guess I'm used to it, But my primary healthcare trust sends me a "Do Not Ignore" letter every year. Puzzled, I checked through
my paperwork, and realised our PHT has effectively taken over diabetic eyecare, and realised it isn't country wide. So I get full
wack for free. I suspect it's a trial.

I'll have a good read through tommorow and post a summery - thanks for bringing it up.

I get the eye photos done at the hospital, I go by bus and take a floppy hat or sun visor, as well as my reaction lenses!

Gosh, those eye-drops - aren't they a pain? My lass insists, every time that we go shopping at the local Tesco's, which is - in theory, about 3 mins from my Opticians, but across a very busy road. Total white-out :) I couldn't imagine doing the trip on my own.

As for the shopping - since I can see blow all - I suspect she has a cunning plan.. :)

Luckily my hospital has no shops near by, and when I get the bus home (I have to get two), I don't even have to cross the roadt o get home!

The drops are something else, I wouldn't wish them on anyone, and I imagine if you had to have them too often they'd mess your eye sight up anyway.Actually having the drops in my eyes is a good excuse not to have the telly on for a day, I tell everyone it hurts my eyes!

Wide dark eyes in women were once considerd a sign of beauty so belladonna (meaning beautiful woman or lady) was used to dilate the pupils, and, I am told comes from Deadly Night Shade!

I had mine done at Boots - did the photos and everything.

I drove, and spent a day shopping in dark glasses until my eyes were right again

I hate shopping, and not being able to see anything made it even more pointless.

    Still - needs doing

Think I'd rather put up with the discomfort once a year than not be able to do the things I enjoy, like watching a good film or reading a decent book.

Incidentally, I work in a library and regular computer users get free eyes tests, and there has been a campagne for everyone to get their eyes tested. I have been encouraging everyone to get their eyes checked out as it is important.

I am newly diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes. I have seen my doctor once since the diagnosis, my vision is getting more blurred by the day. Can someone explain why and does this go away?
