People like to share and are not always sure if someones diet is a little different. My husband has a dairy intolerance, my grown up son can't eat shrimps and prawns, my manager can't eat nuts in any form and my colleague can't eat wheat or anything with coffee, so lots of differences to remember.

When I was doing birthday parties for my grown up sons I used to add the question is there anything that is not eaten to the invitation so that I was able to cater for everyone!

The way I see it is that a "normal" person can eat anything, and then their pancreas releases insulin to convert the glucose in the blood to be stored. For diabetics, we can also eat anything and simply have to adjust our doses of insulin. Of course this is why carb-counting is very important and I suppose this only makes sense with type 1 diabetics like myself! Just on a side note, I think the insulin pumps mimic a pancreas a lot more than insulin shots and so I am due to go onto a pump next March.

Keep us informed on the pump thing, Ridz

I am very interested in using one myself - if they really can monitor blood sugar and react accordingly, then it is doubly interesting to me.
