    Hello to all! Actually I live in the Southern part of the USA and we say "Hey ya'll." I was just diagnosed 2 weeks ago with diabetes. A co-worker told me about this site and I joined after reading some of your comments of support and encouragement. I know I'm going to like it here!!!!

    Diabetes is all in my family and my mother had a kidney transplant 8 years ago because of this disease. My mom, dad and dad's sister are diabetic as were my grandfather and great-grandmother. I've always known it was only a matter of time until I became diabetic but when I actually heard the words from my doctor I just cried. Hearing the words "You are Diabetic" was a major blow and I'm still having a hard time realizing that this is happening to me.

    Luckily I have my Mom to help guide me and now I have ya'll!! I look forward to many, many discussions and I'm so glad that this site is here so we can all support each other even though we are literally oceans apart!

    Hi Mary and welcome. I am still quite new to this forum but have been diagnosed about a year.

    My dad and one of my uncles are diabetic, although no one bothered to tell the rest of the family until I said I was too!

    I know there are lots of people who are diabetic, but it is not generally talked about here, so for me this forum is great. I appreciate the support.
