I need to travel out of the UK, and am not sure whether the new anti-terrorist rules will cause problems for me.
I need to carry a months supply of insulin and needles and need them in my hand luggage.
Anyone had any experience of how to deal with this?
I travelled overseas to Greece without any real problem.
Before travelling I took some basic precautions, such as taking a copy of my prescription and the phone numner and details of rmy doctor.
I was worried about being stopped in some rural area where my 'kit' might be mistaken for illegal drug use.
I had all my insulin and accessories with me in my hand luggage ready in case they wanted to check, but they didn't even ask.
One thing that I would do next time is to take a thermally insulated insulin carry case.
Insulin goes off in high temperatures - something that we don't normally need to worry too much about in the UK - but in Greece, the temperature touched 40 degrees C.
As an emergency stop-gap, I kept my insulin in the fridge until the moment we left for the day, then wrapped it in layers of newspaper before packing it.
