Oh I dont know....Open for discussion....been Type One for Diabetic 37 years....and I quite ok with my Diabetes... Type Two sounds quite restricted compared to us Type Ones....
One of my sticking points is my GP. I try to be well informed and find out about the treatments out there. There is a lot I can do for myself, and metformin has rather an undesirable effect and I need to get to the loo fast. My GP seems unwilling to even talk about possible alternatives...
Type 1 here too. I think its interesting to note that the NICE (National Institute for Clinical Excellence) which regulates medicines and treatments in England differentiates quite clearly between type 1s and type 2s. The NICE will approve funding for insulin pumps for type 1s but not type 2s...although I'm not really sure many type 2s would want it
I try to only medicate what is necessary, if I have a head ache for example, unless it is VERY bad I'll go for a walk or meditatate first.
If i have to inject insulin to stay healthy I will, but it wouldn't be through choice.
I would love to give the insulin pump a chance.
If I had the time, I would start a battle with NICE and do a mass publicity thing to get attention to it.
I am 100% sure that a good argument could be presented for it costing less in the long run.
... but I don;y have the time, sadly - maybe next year.
I'd like to say, I'm not sure if I'm type 1 or 2. I guess I'm closer to type 1. I have chronic pancreatitis (from a poisoning incident) and my pancreas is dying. I went from normal, to 70 units of long lasting (lantus) and 10 units of fast acting (novalog) almost overnight. I never realized how life was for diabetics, and I'd like to say, I am having a real tough time adjusting. I don't mind the daily injections, but the ones with meals, I just can't seem to get it done, how do y'all deal with it.
I wish you all the best,
Jon
Look on www.diabetes.org.uk. I think there is something about insulin pumps, it was certainly in their latest e newsletter.
I don't have a diabetes but my uncle diagnosed with he is using many herbs to control it with medicines he is working hard and take all possible actions also very much concern about the food which help him or which harm him. He is currently taking the help of the site for food and treatment that is [link removed]
There are many uses for herbs, and herbs were being used long before chemicals were being used to treat a whole variety of things. There is room for herbal medicine along side modern chemical medicine, and since we are all individuals, what works for one may not work for another. I like to look round and find out as much as possible before taking any decisions.
hey ive just joined up n im a type 1 - my insulin pen is called norvel hehe
