Getting very annoyed at people who think that if you are diabetic it's because
one can't cope with sugar because 'you have too much sugar' Grrrr.

Diabetics are those, whether type on or type two, who's pancreas fails
to regulate the fructose or glucose they take in from normal food intake.

The process of deciding whether someone is diabetic is a long, drawn out
process that needs them to eat normally while determining their blood sugars.

It's the misconceptions that annoy me. Diabetics are overweight. Yes, sometimes.
I have a diabetic mate who's being a type one all his life. I was diagnosed as a type 2
when I had a stroke some years ago. I'm the same weight (vary 65-70 kilos).

    What have you come across?

My moter is always telling me I am diabetic because I am fat lazy and eat too many sweets. My mother is all I need on a bad day, or even a good one. Other comments have been along the lines of well is it catching?

    yeah - annoys me too.

I also get annoyed at it being described as a 'lifestyle disease' - there is enough research now to suggest that most people show signs of 'pre-diabetes' way before any weight problems. The whole 'cause and effect' thing cannot be applied safely here.

I was backwards and forwards to my doctors with all the classic symptoms for a long time before he finally diagnosed the 'problem'
