I have two dogs, a Belgian Shepherd and a Staffie cross.

They help me tremendously. I work from home, and for most of the day my dogs are my only workmates - they stop me from going mad (or madder, perhaps)

Also, after years of neglecting my (and their) exercise needs, I am now walking them (and me) 3 miles a day.
Not only is it good for my health, but I aactualy find it relaxing - its fun watching them fool about, jump in the pond etc.

I find tai chi and meditation help. When I get stressed I comfort eat, which is not good, so I try to find something else to do.

As I try to follow Buddhist Teachings, I use some Buddhist Meditation practices, breat awareness and body awareness ussually do it for me.

If you are not very fit, tai chi may help as you can start gently. There is a very good DVD/Video available from www.taichiforarthritis.com and it is called Tai Chi for Diabetes. Even if you don't want to do tai chi, the site is worth a visit.
