Same as you, 1.5k. Mets - steady 6 mmol. From other type 2's I've spoken to, some who also use evening insulin,
8-10 isn't too bad. Mind, my meter is getting on a bit, being about 6 years old, and I'm anticipating getting
something more up-to-date. Should be interesting to see if the readings are any different.

Advice I keep being given with Metformin is always take it with meals. Tho' in my case I've found taking it at
regular times works best for me. Something like 9am, 15:00, 22:00.

There's a lot of cobblers about the weight thing in my opinion - a few pounds under or over someone else's
statistical average does nothing for me. I have a sneaking suspicion a lot of those who spout that stuff
have shares in healthcare and gyms.

Having said that, I suspect with all the 'don't do this, don't do that' advice we get has a grain of
truth, so I try to keep active and moving...

Hello at last, I've been away for a while.

The old thing of weight gain. I've had problems with my weight for years, and dislike the word diet. We are all on some kind of diet or other. Some people just have a healthier diet than others.

It is sensible to avoid simple carbs like refined sugar and eat plenty of wholemeal whole grain foods, but we do need a variety. As you get the hang of the whole diabetes thing, you'll get to know what will make your sugars high and what wont. providing you are getting a variety and eating a healthy diet, the odd curry and lager or beer wont hurt, or even the odd sweet or two. Personally I'd go crazy if I couldn't have chocolate once in a while...

I was given a list of don'ts by my GP when I was newly diagnosed that just sounded so negative I changed it as follows:

DON'T eat sweets to DO eat fruit
DON'T drink fizzy drinks to DO drink mineral water
DON'T sit round all day to DO take more breaks/get more active
DON'T fry food to DO grill or bake food

The list was quite long and these are just a few examples of turning don't into do.
