Thought I'd try something a little different to help everyone get to know each other a little better, so what jobs do you all do? I'm curious as to how many people are doctors of any kind...

I work in a major reference library and my job is to go round and check all the books (of which there are millions) are in their proper places and make a note of things like the need for re binding or re labelling, and then add all the information to a gigantic spread sheet.

    Wheee-hooo. That's a tough one. I'm a self-employed enquiry agent when the work is available. ( Dray, PI ! (grin!) )

Otherwise, I edit, summarise and offer suggestions for academic papers, mainly in theoretical physics, astronomy, and tell off the odd archaeologist (airy fairy lot!) with the occasional foray into ghost-writing christian sermons. Conceptual stuff if you like. Those tho', I do for fun because there's blow all money in it. My only (other than as a patient) medical experience is once being an office worker for a local PCT.

I'd probably love your job CW. As long as it involves data correlation, not just entry...... ;)

Thinking of job share ( and nooo - y'don'wanna - it means sharing wages too :) )

I'm sure I've mentioned before I'm a stroke survivor - and it seems (I found out MUCH later) because of untreated long term type 2.

The wonders of modern technology mean I can video conference, chat, IRC, or otherwise be in contact with a group of people
from home. If you've been around technology as long as I have, even if if the Web was to collapse, the old text based internet
is still there, though largely ignored now.

Though I try to ignore (yuk!) Myspacefacebook, and twitter (double yuk) there are a lot of other, useful means to conduct business
and/or get a job done. Working from home is a real and viable option. Even the aforementioned have uses for 'networking'.

The beauty is you can, within reason, do so in your own time, at your own pace - all it takes is personal discipline.
