I am a university researcher investigating the different types of glucometers available in the market and how well they satisfy patient needs.
Firstly I’d like to get some of your opinions on the glucometers you use and what factors influenced your choice?

Secondly, if you had the opportunity to influence the design of future glucometers that would be released into the market:
    • What kind of features would you like them to have that they don’t currently possess?
    • What extra information on blood glucose monitoring do you want your glucometers to provide?

Your contribution would be very valuable. I would also be willing to show you the results obtained from the survey I’m carrying out on current glucometers.

    Thanks.

My current gluco metre is the One Touch Ultra 2. It is one that was given to me by the hospital.

I have tried a couple of others, but so far have found this one easiest to use.

I think I'd like to have one that when I use it for the first time the writing is a bit bigger.

I'm using an ancient Accu-Chek Active, and I love it. I bought because I wasn't happy with the one I was provided with, and my Doc gave me vouchers
that enabled (uk) me to by the one useful to me for a fiver. Big, clear, lettering, good history, and Accu, er, Roche provided a free proggy for my computer which enabled me to keep a history of my readings, lots of graphical options ect.

Why is that important to me? It made it easier to track my mmol against my diet.

Unfortunately, it's an infra red connection, and no-one uses that much anymore. My ideal meter would be much the same, but with a similar program and a USB connection.

    Dray.

Thought I'd give the link at the bottom of the page a go and see if I could win one of the glucometers advertised there.

Incidentally, my father had one from me and just couldn't manage to do it...

    Dray,

Many of the Accu-Chek glucometers now allow you to download the results using a USB cable.

    Hope that helps.

Must get the hang of doing the down loads as I have a lap top so don't have to mess about with towers or base stations...
