Welcome to Diabetes Buddies
|
Hiya Ashok,
I'm a fifty year old type 2 diabetic.
As type 2's we're at the same risk as type one's, though, to be fair, if there are going to be problems they're going to take longer to develop.
So your fears are justified to some extent. So your looking at long term cumulative problems. Seat belt? Thats a good description.
Type 1's blood sugars are all over the shop. Any effect of their diet, or lack of it, is immediate if there has been no medication.
Type 2's, for whatever reason, have arrived at where they are gradually. Being overweight is one of them, and often the damage is already is done before it's discovered. Myself, I'm a stroke survivor :)
Look at it this way about Meds. I take Metformin, 500mg three times a day. Diet control is good, excersise is good, but metformin helps a lot.
I think at lot of type 1's seeing 7-9, would think Cool! :) being on Metformin, as a type 2, mine are, at the mo, between 5 and 7, with diet and exersise.
Hope that helps.
