This has been at the back of my mind for yonks.

I'm a type two. So my disposables are the sharps from my pen, and the 'blood strips'.

As I understand it, type one's get a yellow bin with a big warning sign on the front
    which is collected?

I'm not happy with my sharps and strips going to landfill. I'm really unhappy putting them
in general waste. Sure I could save them and wrap them in margarine tubs and stuff, which I
do, but I find the idea a bit disgusting. (still once-a-week rubbish collections here in snowy
    sheffy) I do three tests a day, 24/7 = 8736 sharps a year.....

    Doe's anyone have any suggestions?

Ask at your docotors surgery. I'm type 2 and have a big yellow bin. Sometimes it is best to ask the receptionist as getting things from some doctors is harder than getting blood from a stone or teeth from a chicken. Or ask your local chemist or pharmacist.

    Cheers C.W.

Partly my fault, - I avoid the docs as much as pos. I was on 2 weekly visits, being a determined stroke survivor, and independent to
say the least, lol. So now I only go in when I have to - unwell or pharmacist re-assessment or diabetic appointment ect.

My type 1 mate got me thinking - he has a yellow bin with a zig-zag on the side which is collected regularly. Cheers ducks :)

I think I have to take mine back to the doctors when it's full up. Doctors aren't big on giving information at the best of times and mine seems worse than most. I could write a book about it...

Collection/Take it back. Good point that - hadn't considered it. Hmmm.

Thanks - I've now got a few relevant questions to ask my Practice Nurse and/or Diabetic Nurse next week.

I have an appointment next week - I'll let you know how I get on up here in sunny Sheffy :)
