I don't mind certain types of speciality tea with no milk in but I'm not so sure about frog slime. I'm not even certain I believe all I read in the news papers either, so I throw this open to good honest debate...

According to my morning free paper a type of tropical frog and black teas are supposed to slow down and possibly even reverse diabetes. The article specified type 2, but seemed to think everyone injected insulin all day, so I am sceptical.

What does everyone (or anyone?) else think if you saw the article?:sleepout::middlefinger:

Just been reading about the frogs here http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/news/uk/science/article3471372.ece

I can just about get my head around the frog slime bit. I'm a bit dubious about the tea though.

Having said that, I was brought up to use natural remedies for minor ills, lumps and bumps anyway, so the idea of odd remedies isn't alien
to me. Not that I like to think I'm into homeopathy - I think that's a load of cobblers - just that somewhere down the line I decided that
indeed 'Grandma knew best' for little things. All science does it seems to me is refine it and pop it in a pill.

It's right to be careful of oddball remedies tho'. When I was MUCH younger (in the 70''s) I used to hold 'Shakli' health product parties, and did very well at it too. Problem was "our" biggest selling product was Alfalfa Tablets, which were supposed to be high in viamins, 'specially A,D, & C. And I sold those tablets in the full knowledge, after some research, that it was a major source of cattle food in the US.....

    Wise to be sceptical, methinks.

I think Grandma knows best on a lot of things. In our family every time there was a crisis grandma would put the kettle on, things seem easier to sort out with a nice cup of tea. We never use TCP or Dettol for cuts and grazes, we always use warm salty water and get less infections in those cuts and grazes. Dandelions are a great diuretic, hence the name wet the beds.

On the vitamin side, I was advised it is better to eat a balanced diet than take vitamins unless I have been ill, and then only use them for a short while for a boost to the system.

In this day and age when the experts can't all agree, at least all the Grandmas Remedies seem to agree.
